UDYOG AADHAAR / MSME / SSI, Udyog Aadhar is also known as Aadhar for Business. It is a unique 12 digit Government identification number issued by the Ministry of MSME for all small and medium enterprises and small scale industries. These business entities are registered through this process as MSME with their Aadhar Card Number. In other words, the Udyog Aadhaar MSME/SSI unit is an entity that meets set criteria. Udyog Aadhaar, MSME, or SSI unit registration is not mandatory as per any statute but entities can avail few benefits available under different laws by registering themselves.

Registration
Registration of Udyog Aadhaar/MSME/SSI units is undertaken by respective state governments. Almost all the states adopt uniform registration procedure which is as follows.
Provisional Registration
Units are required to obtain Provisional Registration Certificate before the commencement of the business which will be valid for 5 years..
Permanent Registration
Units can apply for a Permanent Registration Certificate in the prescribed form once the business is commenced.
